Graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Doctor of Sciences (Politics), professor.

Worked at the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Since 1998, Director of said institute.

Head of the Chair of Comparative Political Science of the Faculty of Political Science (Moscow State University).

President Emeritus of the Russian Political Science Association.

Author of over 200 academic papers.

Academic focus: political science, history, law, comparative historical analysis of the political theories and political culture of Russia and the West, theory and methodology of humanitarian knowledge.

Recipient of state awards.
